China “signaled openness” to provide military assistance to Russia, - Financial Times

This was announced by Financial Times.

According to the information available to The New York Times, on March 14 the National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan had a 7-hour meeting with Yang Jiechi in Rome. Yang Jiechi is a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and head of the party's foreign affairs commission.

“Our message to Beijing, both public and private, was clear - such assistance will have severe consequences,” - announced Ned Price, spokesman for the State Department, when asked about the Rome meeting during the briefing in Washington DC.

The meeting was arranged, among other things, to “provide a clear explanation of our concerns”, - he said, and added: “We guarantee that no country will be able to avoid punishment for this (providing assistance to Russia, - LB.us)”.

However, the US administration representatives did not inform what was China’s response to the request from Russia, whether the assistance was offered or provided, indicated the New York Times.

As a reminder, yesterday the Financial Times reported that Russia asked China for assistance to continue military invasion in Ukraine.

The Chinese embassy in the United States, in turn, said it was unaware that Russia had requested military equipment from China to continue the war with Ukraine.

Earlier, Trade Minister Gina Raimondo said the United States could take "destructive" measures against Chinese companies that ignore sanctions against Russia.
