Misinformation regarding the number of casualties in Mariupol is being spread over social media, - City Council

Misinformation regarding the number of casualties after Russian occupants strikes in Mariupol is being spread over the internet.

Mariupol City Council posted this information on their Telegram channel.

“At this time, information regarding the number of deaths in Mariupol from the hostile actions of the Russian occupants varies from several hundred to tens of thousands of people. But the official and confirmed number as of the end of March 14, 2022 is approx. 2.357 casualties. All other information is not true,” - the publication said.

City Council warns to trust only official information from reliable sources.

It was also reported earlier that the Russian invaders were spreading false information about the situation in Mariupol - they claimed that the city was already controlled by the Russian Federation.

As a reminder, as of March 13 the number of casualties resulting from the air strikes of Russia on Mariupol increased to 2187 people.

The city is on the brink of a humanitarian collapse. There is no food or drinking water here, and the occupants are blocking the routes of Ukrainian humanitarian convoys and constantly shelling the city.

In his public speech on Sunday (which was the anniversary of his ascending to the throne) the head of the Vatican, Pope Francis, made a statement in support of Ukraine. He called the actions of the Russian army during the siege and bombing of Mariupol "barbaric".
