The journalist Victoria Roschina is probably being held captive by Russian occupiers.
This has been reported by Hromadske.
Roschina has been preparing reports from hot spots in the east and south of Ukraine for all days of the Russo-Ukrainian war.
“On 11 March we published a text in which she talks about life of temporarily occupied Enerhodar. These days the journalist has been preparing reports about military actions in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk region. She was planning to go straight to Mariupol to show what was really going on in the city which had been shelled by the Russian military for more than two weeks,” the media reports.
In the evening of 11 March the journalist was probably on her way to Mariupol. The connection was bad, so the colleagues couldn’t communicate by phone. The only thing they were able to find out was that Victoria had already left Enerhodar.
Next day they couldn’t get in touch with her. At that moment, according to the editorial office information, she was in Berdiansk, another city occupied by Russians.
“On 16 March we found out that the previous day (probably on 15 March) Victoria Roschina was detained by the Federal Security Service of the russian federation. Now her whereabouts are not known,” Hromadske editorial office reports.
The media says they have been trying to release their colleague for two weeks, but without result.
“This is why we urge the Ukrainian and international community to contribute to our efforts both in terms of information and actions in order to release the journalist of Hromadske Victoria Roschina,” the message of the editorial office says.
As a reminder, on 16 March it became known that the journalist Oleh Baturyn, who had disappeared in Kakhovka, is being held captive by occupiers in Kherson city. With him in captivity there is an activist of Nova Kakhovka information defence Serhii Tsyhipa and 5 more people.
On the same day the American TV channel Fox News reported the death of their operator in Ukraine. It was an Irish citizen Pierre Zakrevsky. In the car, which came under shelling, together with the foreign journalists there was a Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshynova. She died, too.
On 14 March, as a result of Russian troops’ shelling a British journalist was injured. He got a splintered fracture of the lower limbs.
