Pope Francis again called to end war in Ukraine, calling it "senseless massacre"

In his weekly address to the faithful in St. Peter's Square in Rome, Pope Francis again called for an end to military aggression against Ukraine.

This was reported by the Voice of America.

Francis called the fighting in Ukraine an unjustified "senseless massacre" and called for an end to "this disgusting war."

"Unfortunately, the violent aggression against Ukraine does not subside ... It is a senseless massacre in which massacres and atrocities are repeated every day ... There is no justification for this," the pontiff said.

As you know, Moscow calls the war against Ukraine a "special military operation." Pope Francis rejected this terminology.

"I ask all players in the international community to sincerely dedicate themselves to ending this disgusting war," he said.

Francis reminded that this week Russian rockets and bombs were fired at civilians, the elderly and children.

The pontiff also told how on Saturday he visited a Roman hospital where children from Ukraine are treated. "One [of them] did not have an arm, and the other was wounded in the head," the pontiff said.

Earlier the Pope called "barbaric" actions of Russians during a siege of Mariupol.

The next day after Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine, the pontiff personally arrived at the Russian embassy in the Vatican and called for an end to the war.
