Better to Give Ukraine Weaponry Now Than to Search It for Other Countries Too - Zelenskyy Appeals to G7 Leaders

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has offered the countries of Group 7 to take part in the project for rebuilding the Ukrainian cities.

During the appeal to the leaders of the “Great Seven” countries, he has emphasized that the world needs new functional alliances and effective warranties. At the same time, at first, it is necessary to give Ukraine the necessary weaponry and to tighten the sanctions against Russia every week.

“We can make your Group of Seven not just a Great Seven, but the Great Seven of peacemakers. What is required for this? Ukraine is very clear in answering this question. First, to tighten the sanctions against the Russian aggression every week, until it stops and returns peace to us. Second, to take part in creating a new system of security warranties for Ukraine, for our region. Real warranties. Functional. Such warranties that could stop any aggressor in 24 hours,” the president has explained.

Ukraine proposes to create such a union with the name U-24.

“This is what the world needs. Not only to stop a war and military actions that have already started, preventively. But also to give support to the countries that suffer from a natural disaster, that need to be supported during the pandemic, that have migration or food crises,” the president has mentioned.

Office of the President

“Freedom has to be armed. Life must win over death”. The appeal by Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the representatives of G7.

Zelenskyy has also informed about the war crimes which Russia is committing in Ukraine. Among those are the usage of phosphorus bombs against the civil population, deportation of Ukrainians, kidnapping of children. According to the previous data, there are around 2,000 such cases by now.

“Russia has destroyed the global security architecture, dealt a powerful blow to the international relationships. But this is only the beginning. A global food crisis might come after this war. The longer there is no peace on Ukrainian ground, the less food the world market will get from Ukraine. So, in many countries in Asia, Africa, even in Europe there might be extraordinary problems with the access to basic food, with food prices. This will definitely end with political destabilization. Maybe, this is also the goal of the Russian leadership? I am unaware of this. We all must act immediately! Immediately stop the Russian armies, take them out from the territory of Ukraine,” the president has called out. He has pointed out that it would be easier to tighten the sanctions against Russia as much as required to stop its war machine than to deal with the consequences of the global food and political security crisis later.

Zelenskyy also believes that the full embargo on the trade with the RF and to take away its opportunity to use GPS in war are necessary so that this system would not help the Russian missiles and bombs to destroy peaceful cities.

“Russian banks and, most importantly, the Central bank of Russia must be completely blocked from the global financial system. War criminals must be left without money at all! And their frozen assets must transform, among other things, into reparations to rebuild Ukraine. It is better to provide Ukraine with such weaponry aid that we really need than to look for weapons for other countries as well later. We understand that these are Georgia, Moldova, Baltic countries, Poland, countries of Central Asia,” the president has appealed.

Group of Seven is an international club for the governments of the countries with the most powerful economies in the world. It includes the USA, Japan, Germany, Great Britain, France, and Canada. Right now, Germany presides over the club.

Before 2014 it has been the Group of Eight and included Russia. Russia has been excluded after taking over Crimea.
