Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak mentioned that Ukraine would like the State of Israel to act as one of the guarantors of a new security treaty for Ukraine amid the Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine.
This he said to the 11-th Israeli TV channel.
“We also consider and hope that Israel сould act as one of the guarantors of a major future treaty to ensure Ukraine’s security. We would very much like that. It would be historically sound and just. As very close ties connect us with Israel,” – he pointed out.
The Head of the Presidential Office said that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was constantly communicating with international leaders, particularly with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.
“He has up to 10 international calls every day... We certainly welcome the mediatory role of Israel. President Zelenskyy often talks to Prime Minister Bennett. I am in contact with the head of the National Security and Defense Council. I have also spoken to Mr. Elkin (Zeev Elkin, a politician, and a member of Knesset from the Likud party – Ed.) several times. We also consider Jerusalem as a priority place for a future meeting of President of Ukraine Zelenskyy with the president of the Russian Federation,” Yermak said.
He also talked about the negotiations between the delegation of Ukraine and that of Russia. Yermak mentioned that Russian delegation started the negotiations with “absolutely unacceptable tone, that was practically ultimate for Ukraine”. According to him, however, it is possible to say now that there is a dialogue.
“We expect much more from Israel and hope that these expectations are not vain… . We have clearly articulated what we expect, what we need – these are “Iron dome” and another weapon…,” he added.
