Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko announced on Facebook that Ukraine is reducing the staff of the Belarusian embassy to five people in response to unfriendly actions against employees of Ukrainian diplomatic missions in Minsk and Brest.
Diplomatic accreditation of the other Belarusian embassy employees is cancelled. Their stay on the territory of our state is declared undesirable.
When Belarusian diplomats return to Ukraine, which they left during the war, they will be banned from travelling more than 40 km from the centre of Kyiv.
The Exequatur (permission of the host state to perform consular functions in the consular district) of the Honorary Consul of Belarus in Lviv is also abolished.
"We warn the Belarusian authorities that any further unfriendly steps towards Ukraine will receive an immediate and decisive response," Nikolenko said.
Yesterday, Belarus decided to send some Ukrainian diplomats away and close the Consulate General of Ukraine in Brest.
Last week, Belarus stated they had taken the last group of their diplomats out of Ukraine, consisting of 11 people and their families members. Belarusian authorities have accused Ukrainian border guards of carefully searching their diplomats.
