Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy answered the questions of the russian outlets, including the Zygar Youtube channel, "Dozhd" (Rain) channel, Meduza portal, and Kommersant and Novaya Gazeta newspapers. The Presidential Office published the video recording of the conversation.

Meanwhile, Roskomnadzor (russian federal executive agency responsible for monitoring, controlling and censoring mass media - translator's note) prohibited russian media from publishing the interview.

"Several russian mass media, including foreign mass media that act as foreign agents, interviewed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Roskomnadzor warns that the russian media should ban the publication of this interview. We have started the investigation to determine the level of responsibility and appropriate measures towards the outlets that conducted the interview," informed the agency.

In 2019, Putin signed a law that requires that some individuals register as "foreign agents." Starting April 2021, several independent media organizations were designated as "foreign agents," including Meduza, VTimes (since closed), Insider, "Dozhd" TV-channel, platform "Vazhnye istorii" (Important Stories) and Mediazona.
