Today Ukraine covers NATO’s eastern flank. And if Russia is allowed to succeed in Ukraine, it will move to attack other European countries.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk in an interview with Fox News.
According to the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament, russian officials are already talking about their plans to destroy Poland and the Baltic states after Ukraine. And the surveys show that the majority of russian population supports further aggression action of Russia.
Thus, Ruslan Stefanchuk called on NATO to strengthen its practical support for Ukraine. The Alliance has the capabilities to provide Ukraine with military equipment, that could be game-changing in fighting back russian aggression. It’s about tanks, combat aircraft, and air defense systems.
“We are not asking NATO to send troops to defend Ukraine. All we are saying is: close the sky, send the weapons, and we will do the rest”, the VRU Chairman emphasized.
Stefanchuk has reminded about the missile shelling of Lviv by Russia, at a time when US president Joe Biden was giving a speech 100 miles away in Poland.
Also, the Chairman thanked the United States for supporting Ukraine, in particular with equipment and sanctions. Stefanchuk stressed that "we cannot stop taking measures to force Russia to stop this barbaric war against Ukraine."
