More than 3000 cases of war crimes committed by russians in Ukraine are under investigation

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Iryna Venediktova reported about the ongoing investigation of more than 3000 cases of war crimes by russians in Ukraine. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of the Prosecutor General on air during one of the interviews to Ukrainian journalists.

Venediktova also noted that due to the ongoing military operations her team faces some difficulties in collecting evidence and proof of crimes. The investigating team includes members of the Security Service of Ukraine. She also appealed for a law on the military prosecution office to be passed as soon as possible to simplify the process of collecting proof of war crimes.

"Many proofs of war crimes are lost immediately as the front line of fire and military actions changes. That is why we face some difficulties in the process, the team constantly works under fire, plus we understand that some territories can be occupied by Russian forces", - the Prosecutor General said.

According to Venediktova, almost 205 russian officials, who are accused of war crimes in Ukraine, are included already in the international wanted list. The list includes Heads of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation and the Chairman of the State Duma. At the same time, the Prosecutor General added, only two people have functional immunity - vladimir putin and sergei lavrov.

As many as 41 countries have already appealed to the International Criminal Court in support of Ukraine
