Since the beginning of martial law, more than 130,000 Ukrainians have registered as internally displaced persons (IDP).
This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Social Policy Maryna Lazebna.
She noted that almost 1.6 million people are registered in the Unified Information Database on Internally Displaced Persons.
"It is very important to provide information about yourself in the Unified Database of Internally Displaced Persons. This will allow us to understand the "social portrait" of displaced persons in each region, properly assess their needs and plan assistance. So I ask everyone who has been forced to leave their home to go and register with the community where you now live. At the same time, it is possible to apply for housing assistance provided by the Government to internally displaced persons," the minister stressed.
Lazebna said that the Government has involved additional channels for IDPs registration. Previously, this issue was dealt with only by social security bodies at the level of districts and cities of regional importance.
"Now a person will be able to apply to an authorized person of the community, administrative service centers, and then just apply remotely through the portal Diya," Maryna Lazebna said.
On 25 March, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that temporary housing would be built for internally displaced persons.
The government has developed a social package to support IDPs. Homeowners who have sheltered refugees will receive 450 hryvnyas per month to pay for communal services; the state will start paying each migrant in Ukraine a minimum monthly allowance of 2,000 hryvnyas; 3,000 hryvnyas will be paid for each child who was forced to move to safer regions due to the war; employers will receive compensation in the amount of 6,500 hryvnyas for each employed migrant.
