Today, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko had an online meeting with the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, Galushchenko stressed that Ukraine can help European countries “get off the hook” of Russian fossil fuels.

It is about providing Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities and electricity supply, the Ministry said.

During the online meeting, the parties discussed the nuclear security situation in Ukraine and Europe (including Russia's seizure of Ukrainian nuclear power plants), the results of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi's visit to Ukraine, and the first results of the Ukrainian power system in synchrony with the European one.

Kadri Simson said that after the synchronization of energy systems, Ukraine has become an important factor in the reliable operation of the European EU. Simpson added that the launched auctions for the export of electricity from Ukraine had a positive effect on Poland's energy supply.

The Russian occupiers left the Chornobyl nuclear power plant and signed the “Act of Acceptance and Transfer of Protection” of the station. Currently, a small number of Russian troops remain here.

On March 16, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the unification of the Ukrainian and European energy systems had been completed. Ukraine has become a member of the “Energy European Union”.
