The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, emphasized that the defenders of Ukraine are liberating one by one our towns and villages from the russian occupiers. However, he addressed Ukrainians to be restrained.
Ukrainians! The 36th day of our national defense after eight years of war in Donbas is ending. I don't even believe it, but March is already over. It is imperceptible! We do not notice how time flies. Every other day and every other night are the same as the previous ones. Every day is the same day; every night is the same night. And the same task for all of us - to protect ourselves, save people, deter invaders. Drive them out, "- said Zelenskyy in his video message.
The President said that russian troops tried to occupy our territory from different directions during March and five days of February - from the ground, from the sky, from the sea.
"They crawl, fly, swim ... They have so much evil, so much thirst for destruction that it reminds not of people but something otherworldly. Some monsters which burn and rob, attack, and try to kill. Some hellish chimeras ... But when you are on your own land, everything helps you; the land itself, the rivers, and everyone ... We endured many times more than the enemy thought; they said three or five days. They thought it would be enough for them to take over our whole state. And it is already 36 days. And we stand. And we will fight further. Till the end ", - Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President noted that everybody, including our Armed Forces, the National Police, the National Guard, and Intelligence, liberates the country from the russian occupiers. Defenders are expelling Russians north of Kyiv, in the Chernihiv direction, and the Sumy region.
They are aware that they no longer can conduct as intensive combat actions as they could in the first half of March. But we also must realize that this is part of russian military tactics. It is not a coincidence. We know their plans. We know what they are planning and what they are doing. We know that they are moving away from the areas where we are beating them to focus on others that are critical, on those where we can face difficulties. That is why everyone needs to be restrained. Restrained in emotions, restrained in experiences. We all equally strive for victory. Everyone wants the same! "- Zelenskyy emphasized.
The day before, the President also addressed the Belgian Parliament and appealed to Europe to do more for Ukraine's victory. Also, during his speech in the States-General - the Parliament of the Netherlands - Zelenskyy asked to provide Ukraine with weapons, tighten sanctions against russia, including closing ports for russian ships, and support our country in joining the European Union.
