The Ukrainian and Russian delegations are already discussing the issue of Crimea. This topic, which has been tabooed by occupiers, is finally put for dialogue.
This was reported by the People’s Deputy, a member of the negotiating group Rustam Umerov in his interview to NV.
“We haven’t spoken about Crimea for eight years. For the Russian side, this has been a taboo topic, which Moscow is not discussing. But today we have determined that we are going to discuss the Crimean problem. It is actually a big breakthrough. We are already starting to discuss Crimea. No one is talking about 15 years anymore. Personally, I am not a supporter of including any deadlines and focusing the attention on it. Our position is that the Crimea issue is important for the Ukrainian side. And we are already discussing it,” he states.
Umerov highlights that the military way of liberating the region is not being considered at the moment. The issue of Crimea has to be solved only in a political and diplomatic way.
As a reminder, in the negotiations with Russia, the Ukrainian side is suggesting that the question of the status of Crimea should be settled by means of two-side negotiations in no longer than 15 years. The possibility of a military solution is excluded.
