The European External Action Service (EEAS) condemns the decision of the russian federation to conduct illegal conscription into the russian army in the illegally annexed Ukrainian territory of Crimea
According to the statement, "this is another serious violation of international humanitarian law by russia."
"The conscription of all men, including Crimean Tatars, in the illegally annexed Crimea is particularly cynical, as they are forced to take a direct part in russia's ongoing war against Ukraine. The EU does not and will not recognize the illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol", - according to the EEAS statement.
The EU called on russia to immediately stop military aggression and withdraw its forces and military equipment from all territory of Ukraine.
Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine spoke against the conscription of Ukrainians in the illegally annexed Ukrainian territory of Crimea and the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Lyudmila Denisova, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, said that Crimean Tatars are being blackmailed and threatened by physical violence against their relatives if do not agree to join the russian army.
