Russian oligarch Roman Abramovych is an "extremely effective mediator" in the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
This was stated by the Advisor to the Head of the OPU, a member of the negotiating group, Mykhailo Podoliak during the telethon, answering journalists' questions about the participation of the Russian oligarch in the negotiations.
"In the media space, it has long been known that he is an extremely effective mediator between delegations. He moderates part of the process from the point of view that there is no misunderstanding" at the entrance," that is when the parties say something, and on the other side something is not so clear," - said Podoliak.
Earlier, in early March, the U.S. Ministry of Finance developed many sanctions against Abramovych, but they were not announced at the request of the White House National Security Council. The Wall Street Journal states that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the phone conversation advised U.S. President, Joseph Biden to wait with sanctions against the oligarch, as he may "prove to be an important mediator in negotiations with Russia."
