The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Latvia announced the withdrawal of consent to the activities in the country General Consulates of Russia in the cities of Daugavpils and Liepāja.

This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine in Latvia, Oleksandr Mishchenko.

All diplomatic personnel of these Consulates are considered undesirable for further stay in the territory of the Republic of Latvia.

The Ambassador noted that the decision was taken by the Latvian side in solidarity with Ukraine, which is fighting against unreasonable military aggression by Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia stresses that the Latvian side has repeatedly strongly condemned the military aggression by Russia.

"The Latvian side also notes that Russian illegal invasion of Ukraine and war crimes committed by its armed forces contradict the international obligations of the Russian Federation. Those who took, supported and executed decisions on military aggression against Ukraine should be fully responsible," - said in the message.

It is noted that the officials of these Consulates must leave the country by April 30.

Earlier Latvia banned “Z” and “V” symbols which belongs to Russian occupiers.

Today, Estonia also announced that it is closing the Russian Consulate and expel its officials.

The expulsion of Russian diplomats became a pan-European process because of the condemnation of violent crimes committed by Russian soldiers in cities and villages of the Kyiv region. Today, about the explusion of diplomats said in Spain, Italy, Denmark, before that - in France and Germany.
