As a result of full-scale russian aggression, Ukraine has become one of the largest mined areas in the world.

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk in an interview with Italian TV channel Sky TG24.

"Ordinary life is gradually returning to the capital of Ukraine, the situation around Kyiv is also less tense. But it remains very difficult and dangerous due to the extremely large number of mines and other explosive devices, many of which are in the liberated territories," Vereshchuk said.

She added that the authorities and relevant services are working to eliminate the remnants of shells and missiles and to defuse a large number of mines as soon as possible. This will make it possible to "regularly deliver medicines, water, food, and basic necessities to the inhabitants of such settlements," Vereshchuk said.

In the Kyiv region, more than 1,000 explosive devices were defused in one day. In the Chernihiv region, according to local authorities, there are many mined roads, many destroyed communications, and broken bridges.

In late March, it became known that the russian occupiers began to mine Ukrainian territory with the latest ammunition with a seismic sensor.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Digital Transformation are working on mapping minefields.
