Pink Floyd has released a new song for the first time in twenty-eight years. The music track is devoted to Ukraine, the Apostrophe website has reported, referring to the Twitter account of the band.

"Tonight at midnight, Pink Floyd will release a new song, 'Hey Hey Rise Up', which sees David Gilmour and Nick Mason joined by Guy Pratt & Nitin Sawhney, with an extraordinary vocal by Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Ukrainian band Boombox," the statement said.

The guitarist and vocalist of Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, has a daughter-in-law and grandchildren from Ukraine. In 2015, Gilmour performed live with Boombox during a charity concert in London.

The new Pink Floyd track used a sample with Khlyvnyuk's voice from a video where the Boombox vocalist is performing "Oh, Red Viburnum in the Meadow" near Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv.

"We, like many others, feel angry and disappointed at this despicable act of invading independent, peaceful democracy and killing in one of the world's largest nations. All income from the song will go to humanitarian aid to Ukraine," the Pink Floyd message said.

Previously, the leader of the Boombox band, Andriy Khlyvnyuk, who joined the Kyiv Territorial Defense since the beginning of the war, came under mortar shelling and was wounded on Saturday, 26 March.
