Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer on Monday, April 11, plans to visit russia and meet Volodymyr Putin. The purpose of the visit is to "form bridges," reported to Kronen Zeitung.
Nehammer will become the first Head of the EU member state to meet Putin for the first time since the beginning of the war with Ukraine.
According to the media outlet, the Austrian Chancellor said: "My duty as a human is to do everything possible to end this war or at least create humanitarian corridors. Besides the phone, there must be personal diplomacy... And yes, I will also consider war crimes."
The media outlet noted that Nehammer discussed his trip with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as well as the Head of Turkey Recep Erdoğan and the President of the European Council Charles Michel.
Earlier, on April 9, the Austrian Chancellor visited Bucha. With the Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Pavliuk and the Head of the humanitarian direction Oleksii Kuleba they visited the place of mass temporary burial of the local inhabitants killed by the occupiers.
