The White House considers the possibility to deliver to Ukraine the systems requiring additional training of the Ukrainian military.
The National Security Advisor of the U.S. President Jake Sullivan said on CBS. “First of all, we are focused on providing help to the Ukrainians in the defense of their territory and returning their territory, like they have already done, for example, in the north and north-east of the country, – he said. – The U.S. also considers providing the systems requiring some training of the Ukrainians. And we discuss with them how it can work… Outside the country”.
At the same time, Jake Sullivan refused to answer the question of what systems are discussed.
The Advisor of the U.S. President also said that Washington continues looking for weapon systems available from our partners and allies that the Ukrainian forces already know how to use.
“Air defense system С-300, which has been delivered by Slovakia this week, is the best example,” he said. “So, it mostly goes that our partners and allies who have other military equipment meeting better the needs of the Ukrainians should transfer it over to them. And we help them with this.”
According to Jake Sullivan, he and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Army Mark Milley had a long conversation with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak as to the Ukraine’s needs.
“We discussed each of their requests, priority by priority, and elaborated how we could help and provide the Ukrainians with what they need from our reserves or the reserves of our allies,” he said. “Something of that has already been delivered. Something is on the way, and something we are working on. And the same efforts are being made by the United States not only on our own behalf but also by leading the coalition of the countries working for the Ukrainians”.
On 10 April, the High Representative of the EU Union for Foreign AffairsJosep Borrell said that he received from Ukrainian authorities the list of the weapons required to oppose the military invasion of russia.
On 8 April, Boris Johnson announced that Great Britain will transfer to Ukraine weapons at another £100 m, including Starstreak missile systems.
