Thestar.com according to the Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie:

Canada imposes sanctions on 33 Russian defence companies. These organisations provided direct or indirect support to the russian military. So on, they are involved in the pain and suffering caused by vladimir putin's unjustified war in Ukraine.

The sanctions include an assets' freeze and a companies’ ban. Among them there are Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, JV Integral JSC and Vimpel Shipyard.

"Canada has always supported Ukraine, and will continue its assistance. Today's events are another example of unwavering Ukraine’s and its people’s support”, said Jolie.

Canada imposed sanctions on 160 members of the russian federation Council and announced an export ban for a number of russian goods in March.

The list was expanded then for russians and belarusians, who contributed to and violated Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence. It included businessmen Volodymyr Potanin, Viktor Vekselberg, Kyrylo Shamalov, Leonid Michelson and Dmytro Pumpyansky. Deputy Ministers of Defence of belarus Andriy Zhuk, Andriy Burdyk and Serhiy Symonenko were also included into the list.
