There are many civilians, including women and children, on the territory of the “Azovstal” plant in Mariupol. In total, about 100 thousand people remain in the city.
This was announced by the head of the patrol police of Mariupol Mykhaylo Vershynin, UNIAN reports.
"There are indeed a large number of civilians on the territory of the “Azovstal” plant, including women, children, the elderly, and infants. These people hid from the shelling because there is a shelter that allows them to survive the shelling for some time”, - he said.
Vershynin said that the city's residents "do not trust russians, they see what is happening in the city, and therefore remain at the plant."
The policeman said that russian occupiers use the local population (about 100,000 people remained in the city): "for food, they dig up rubble, collect corpses and make mass graves (occupiers - ed.).Simply remove traces of their activities after the shelling."
According to Vershynin, the occupiers put a white bandage on the right leg and left arm of all Mariupol residents. All enemy military have the same markings.

Mariupol has been completely surrounded since the beginning of March. The battles for the city do not stop. On 15 April, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the leaders of the power bloc over Mariupol. And the commander of the 36th separate brigade of marines, Major Serhiy Volyna, called on the authorities to unblock Mariupol as soon as possible, either militarily or politically.
According to the head of state, there are several circles of occupation in Mariupol today and the enemy forces are six times more numerous than the Ukrainian defenders. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the destruction of our military in Mariupol will put an end to negotiations with russia.
