The russian army launched a missile strike on the Mykolaiv region (the missiles were destroyed by the air defense system) and shelled Ochakiv with Uragan SPMRLS with cluster munitions prohibited by international conventions. This was stated by the Operational Command South.
According to them, there were hits in residential areas, but no civilians were injured.
“Preparing for the referendum in Kherson, the enemy is increasing its equipment and forces. In addition to blatantly false propaganda, it plans provocative shelling of civilians to accuse the Armed Forces of Ukraine and create a negative image of the Ukrainian government,” the OC South stressed.
It is also stated that the enemy fleet continues to block shipping in the Black Sea and threats with missile strikes.
As a result of military action on April 17, the “Dnipro-Mykolaiv” water pipeline in Mykolaiv, which supplies water from the Dnipro river to Mykolaiv, was damaged. Currently, work is ongoing to restore the water supply.
