One should not completely reject the possibility of a new land offensive in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Chernihiv regions. At the same time, they do not see such a possibility in the near future, Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, said in his interview with RBC-Ukraine.

He explained that a strike force is necessary for a successful offensive. On the territory of Belarus there are still some russian units that are taking demonstrative actions to the north of Ukraine, keeping Ukrainian defenders on alert.

"In the long run, the enemy may start advancing from Belarus again. But it will depend on the result they will be able to get in Donetsk and Luhansk regions," Motuzyanyk said.

According to him, the capital of Ukraine is well fortified and ready for defence. The level of defence only increased after the occupiers left the territory of Kyiv Region.

"If russia ever returns to the issue of the attack on Kyiv, they will have to gather a huge number of troops. And now they need a victory in the east," he said.

As of the morning of 20 April, russian troops are trying to continue offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone in order to establish full control over the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The enemy continues to launch missile and bomb strikes on military and civilian infrastructure throughout Ukraine.

In the northern direction, there were no signs of the enemy forming a strike group to resume offensive operations. The protection of the Ukrainian-russian border in this direction is carried out by the enemy in an enhanced mode. Measures for engineering support of bases in the border areas with Ukraine are underway.
