The European Union agreed to buy heavy weapons to pass them to Ukraine free of charge. This was stated by European Council President Charles Michel in an interview with European Pravda (Ukrainian media - tr.).

"I remember very well how two days after the start of the war, President Zelenskyy called me and asked to coordinate the provision of weapons to Ukraine. It was a very difficult decision for the EU, we have not done that yet," Michel said.

He also added that since then the EU has allocated 1.5 bn euros for arms procurement for the Armed Forces through the European Peace Facility program. Michel also said that the European Union now undestands the need to supply heavy weapons to Ukraine. At the same time, such purchases will not be announced.

On 21 April 21, servicemen of the Joint Forces successfully repulsed 10 attacks by the russian army in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions.
