The Lithuanian Seimas has decided to extend the state of emergency until June 29. It was implemented due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

According to LRT, 124 parliament members supported the decision, and six abstained.

The Speaker of the Seimas, Victorija Cmilyte-Nielsen, emphasized that the state of emergency is necessary as russia's brutal military aggression in Ukraine continues, and the threat does not diminish.

"Russia's state terrorism and constant violations of international humanitarian law have led to a growing humanitarian and migration crisis in Ukraine. Moreover, the aggressive policies of russia and Belarus against their populations make the risk of these people fleeing their countries grow," - Cmilyte-Nielsen said.

According to the Speaker of the Seimas, there is an intensification of activities, particularly with the purpose of possible collection of information, near the objects important for the national security of Lithuania.

As you know, Lithuania regularly ships weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. Not only the "Stinger" missile system was handed over to Ukraine, but also other anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, ammunition, grenades, machine guns, etc. The cost of the shipped military aid is dozens of millions of euros. Yesterday Lithuania handed over to Ukraine

a consignment of heavy mortars.
