A powerful German military is needed to deter a russian attack. Russian President Vladimir Putin is clinging to the idea of a “forced peace” in Ukraine, and this idea is not working.

The Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz said this during a speech in Tokyo, Reuters quoted him as saying.

According to the chancellor, Germany seeks to forge closer ties with countries that share its values. Scholz counted Japan and India among such countries.

He also stressed that deglobalization should not be an excuse for protectionism and added that world trade must remain free and fair.

Today, the Bundestag finally approved the transfer of heavy weapons to Ukraine. The resolution calls on the German government to “extend and, if possible, accelerate the supply of the equipment Ukraine needs and, at the same time, expand the transfer of heavy and advanced weapon systems to that country as part of mutual transfers”.

At the same time, the document notes that the transfer of this equipment to Ukraine should not lead to the weakening of Germany's defense capabilities.
