President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address, expressed condolences to the family of “Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty” journalist Vira Hyrych, who died in Kyiv.
“Today it became known that a journalist, an employee of “Radio Liberty”, Vira Hyrych, was killed by a Russian missile hitting a residential building in Kyiv. She became the 23rd media employee whose life was cut short by the February 24 russian invasion. My condolences to all relatives and friends".
Zelenskyy also said that the dismantling of the debris after last night's shelling in Kyiv continues. He stressed that the shelling of the Ukrainian capital during the visit of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is "a deliberate and cruel humiliation of the United Nations by russia."
Two explosions took place in the evening of April 28 in Kyiv. According to eyewitnesses, the explosions were powerful, the blast wave broke the glass in the windows of many houses.
The number of victims is 10 people, four of them are hospitalised. One person died - her body was found under the rubble. It became known later that this person was Vira Hyrych, an employee of “Radio Liberty”.
