President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has discussed key issues regarding the help for Ukraine with the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, he said in his address.
“[We] have spent four hours of very substantive discussions with Ms. Pelosi - multifaceted [discussions]. Particularly, regarding defense supply, macro-financial assistance, sanction policy, political interaction with the USA," the President said.
Zelenskyy thanked Pelosi for the revival of the historical program Lend-Lease which “had helped to protect the freedom in Europe once and can certainly do it once again."
“[We] have discussed specific areas – how Lend-Lease can work to strengthen our country the most and to help us fight for freedom. Also thanked for the preparation of the big aid package for Ukraine worth 33bn dollars,`` stated in the address.
Zelenskyy and Pelosi have also discussed how to increase sanctions against russia to most effectively prompt it to end the war and to limit any options for russia to bypass already implemented and future sanctions.
Pelosi is now visiting Kyiv. Zelenskyy has awarded her the Order of Princess Olga for significant personal contribution to strengthening America's ties with Ukraine and personal sincere participation in the protection of freedom.
