The Verkhovna Rada plans to urge the House of Representatives and the Senate of the US Congress to recognize Russia as a sponsor of terrorism. The relevant draft resolution has already been registered in Parliament.
Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, informed about this.
"It is more than enough evidence of Russia's compliance with this status. This is atrocities in Irpin, Bucha, Mariupol and other cities of Ukraine. This is Russia's use of prohibited weapons, including chemical ones. This is hostage-taking of civilians. This is constant nuclear terror. This is support for terrorist organizations i.e. the LNR and the DNR. This is the poisoning of the Skrypal family, the downing of a Malaysian airliner, etc. And this is not a complete list," Stefanchuk said.
According to the speaker of the Parliament, the recognition of Russia as a sponsor of terrorism will strengthen international sanctions and consolidate the world around Ukraine. "The Verkhovna Rada, in particular, urges the US Congress to impose sanctions on government and business groups, Russian political parties that support the war," Stefanchuk added.
He pointed out that "Russia's place is in isolation: we should separate terrorists from the civilized world by all possible means."
To remind, US Secretary Anthony Blinken has recently informed that Washington was considering recognizing Russia as a sponsor of terrorism.
