According to a high-ranking official of the US Department of Defense, the Chief of Staff of the russian Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov, recently visited Ukraine.

“We know that he has been in Donbas for several days since last week. We do not know if he is still there”, the official said.
He noted that there were reports that Gerasimov was injured, but in the United States there is no evidence of this.
The United States does not know why Gerasimov went to the russian front, and whether such a trip shows the Kremlin's lack of trust in General Alexander Dvornikov. It is noted that Gerasimov's trip shows that he wanted to directly “see the progress of the operation”.
We are reminding, that earlier the adviser to the chief of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko reported that the Ukrainian military hit a staff of the 2nd army of the russian occupiers where was located a rate of the chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the russian Federation Gerasimov.
Appointed in early April, Gerasimov promised Putin to conduct a successful attack in Ukraine and to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in 3-4 days.
