The russian federation continues to block Ukrainian units in the area of the Azovstal plant. There were attempts of assault. Artillery and missile strikes by aircraft continued from time to time.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, announced this at a briefing on 4 May.

"What is the situation there at this very moment – I cannot say as I have no operational information," he said.

[This statement was a reaction to] several media outlets reported that the russians allegedly broke into the Azovstal plant, where Ukrainian defenders and civilians were staying.

Evacuation from Mariupol continued. Yesterday, 156 people arrived in Zaporizhzhia. These people were rescued from Azovstal and other city districts on 1 May, but the occupiers suspended the bus for inspections. On 3 May, almost 2,000 Mariupol residents were waiting to be evacuated near Berdyansk. Of the 14 evacuation buses with residents of Mariupol, only three reached the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government.

Hundreds of civilians were sheltered in the plant. The russians struck with bombs that could destroy even bunkers.
