Russia may come up with some victories devoted to 9 May in achieving their goals in the war against Ukraine and pass them off as reality.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Defense Oleksandr Motuzyanyk informed during the briefing.
“If russia does not achieve its goals, and as of today, they have not achieved them, it might come up with the vicotries and present them on TV. It is their usual way and not a problem for them. But we understand, of course, that not so much time is left to this date, and knowing this makes us to be on alert in all directions, not only where the fighting is ongoing, but also where it is relatively calm,” he informed.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Defense added that it is quite possible to expect certain provocations or shelling intensification.
“What kind of victories can russia report on by 9 May, I cannot tell right now,” he added.
Motuzyanyk stressed that he had no doubts that Ukrainian forces would hold their positions till 9 May – the date “sacred” for the russians as the date of the victory over Nazism in World War II.
“In the eastern part of Ukraine, a powerful armed combat formation of the Ukrainian army has been formed. Our soldiers have been fighting there for 8 years now, and today, standing under shelling 24/7, they hold the line of defense, repel successfully enemy attacks, destroy manpower, machines, and bring down unmanned aerial vehicles,” he said.
Motuzyanyk stresses that the actions of the Ukrainian military in the eastern part of the country are an example of bravery and heroism, and russia will achieve its goals neither there, nor in other territories of this country.
“They understand force only. We have this force. Of course, the Ukrainian army needs to be reinforced by the western kinds of military equipment. This process is ongoing,” the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense stressed.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in his conversation with Pope Francis said that according to russia’s plan, the war will end on 9 May. The Pope personally said it having added, however, that he felt pessimistic about that. In what way the war unleashed by the russians is to be over on 9 May, according to their plan, was not specified.
Earlier, Secretary of State for Defense of Great Britain Ben Walles stated that the rf can use the celebration of 9 May to declare mass mobilization of the reserves for the war in Ukraine.
According to British The Times, on 9 May, russia plans to disembark the troops from the occupied Crimea on the territory of unrecognized Transnistria. At the same time, protests and rebellions are planned in Chisinau.
