After President Biden signed the lend-lease, the US House of Representatives voted in favor of the support package for Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in his address.
“The House of Representatives of the United States Congress has voted in favor of a new and significant package of support for our State and global democracy. Almost 40bn. dollars. A second vote will be held soon in the US Senate. After that, this decision will be signed by President Biden and will come into force," the President of Ukraine said.
He added that these funds will be used as quickly as possible and without bureaucracy to strengthen the defense of Ukraine. First of all, it is weapons and ammunition, equipment, support for the investigation of war crimes of the russian federation, the occupiers, support for diplomatic work.
Zelenskyy once again thanked US President Joe Biden for signing a law on lend-lease to protect democracy in Ukraine, and recalled the importance of the famous lend-lease program during World War II.
The President of Ukraine also noted the security guarantees for Ukraine, which were discussed at the G7 meeting on May 8.
"We are negotiating with the world's leading countries to give Ukraine confidence in security for decades to come," Zelenskyy said.
He stressed that for the first time in the history of Ukraine there is an opportunity to record such guarantees - not only legally valid, but also spelled out so that it was clear: what exactly, who specifically and how specifically guarantees us.
Zelenskyy noted that russian troops are still on our land, but they have no chance to win. And with new support from the United States, Britain and the European Union, from Canada, Japan, Australia, from the whole free world, it will be easier for Ukraine.
The President said that issues of defense assistance to Ukraine, energy cooperation and new sanctions against russia were raised in a conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that 404 servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were awarded State awards yesterday. In total, more than 13,000 of our servicemen have received State awards during the full-scale war.
In particular, the title of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously) was awarded to Colonel Igor Bedzai, Chief of Aviation Security - Senior Inspector-Pilot of the Naval Command.
