The European Union is ready to finance the construction of oil pipelines for Hungary so that it will instead support the 6th package of sanctions against russia.
This was reported by UNIAN with reference to the Spanish newspaper “El Pais”.
This package of sanctions includes an embargo on russian oil.
The EU wants to redistribute funding under the REPowerEU plan. While Hungary waits for new infrastructure, it will be possible to buy russian oil. Therefore, the embargo is expected to be approved no later than next week.
The European Commission is currently negotiating with the Hungarian authorities.
Modernizing the infrastructure of Hungary and other countries dependent on russian oil will not require large sums of money, according to preliminary estimates. Among other things, we are talking about the construction of new interconnectors or expanding the capacity of pipes.
Earlier Peter Siyarto told how much money his state will need if the embargo on the russian oil will be accepted.
