German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbok accused russia of provoking the global food crisis. The reason is, among other things, the blockade of Ukrainian ports.

This was reported by the German publication ZDF.

"By blocking Ukrainian ports, destroying elevators, roads and railways, and especially farmers' fields, russia has launched a grain war that is fueling a global food crisis," Burbock said during a meeting of UN foreign ministers in New York.

Hunger as a weapon. Russia is once again exporting grain from Ukraine

The publication notes that the United States has included discussions on food security on the UN agenda and invited more than 30 countries. Burbock co-hosted the event.

The German Foreign Minister stressed that russia is waging war not only with the help of tanks, missiles and bombs.

"Russia is waging this war with another terrible but quieter weapon: hunger and poverty," Burbock said.

According to the government, russia does not allow Ukraine to export 20 million tons of grain, mainly to North Africa and Asia. Most of the grain is blocked in the port of Odessa.

The UN Secretary General proposes to ease sanctions against russia in exchange for the opening of Ukrainian grain exports. In exchange for the unblocking of grain, Guterres offers to return russian and belarusian potassium to the world market. However, diplomats believe that russia is not currently in serious talks on this issue.
