Japan will donate two million euros to the IAEA for its efforts to ensure the security of Ukrainian nuclear facilities attacked by russia, - reported by Japan Today.
Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi made the promise public after a meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, who is visiting Japan for talks with officials and to visit the tsunami-wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant.
"Russia's attacks on Ukrainian nuclear facilities are absolutely impermissible. Japan strongly condemns these actions," Hayashi said.
He noted that Japan will use a grant of 2 million euros to finance the sending of IAEA experts to Ukraine and the provision of the necessary equipment for Ukrainian nuclear facilities.
On March 29, Rafael Grossi came to Ukraine to launch a program to support the security of Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
In the coming weeks, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is planning a new mission to Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that a russian missile which had hit a nuclear power plant in Ukraine could cause a nuclear accident.
Since March 4, the city of Energodar and Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant have been temporarily occupied by the russians.
