Ukraine needs military assistance and equipment for humanitarian and food security. As for the humanitarian aspect, Ukrainians need all available military armored vehicles to lift the blockade of cities to avoid the Mariupol situation, when russians killed dozens of thousands of people.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this at a briefing on the visit of the Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Costa to Kyiv.
"I appeal to all leaders: If you can provide them [military aid], do so. If you can not, we will buy them. We do not care how and where; we need to save our people; there is no right price in these decisions, I think," - said Zelenskyy.
There is a diplomatic path to reaching food security, but there is also a military one. Russia has blocked almost all ports and opportunities for maritime exports of food products, including grain. Twenty-two million tons of our products have been blocked by russia, and russians, little by little, are stealing and selling them.
"There will be a second crisis in the world after the energy one created by russia. It will happen if we do not unblock the transportation ways. Therefore, we can liberate them differently. One of the ways is a military one; that is why we refer to our partners, including Portugal," - said Zelensky.
The President added that Ukraine needs MLRS systems for protection; these are Multiple Launch Rocket Systems. Thanks to them, Ukraine will be able to liberate its territory.
"Once again, I appeal to countries afraid to provide MLRSs. They are afraid that Ukraine will somehow attack russia. I want to remind you that we are waging war on our territory. And even if someone got used to Donbas being occupied by russia, we would like to say this is not the right thing to get used to. We are moving step by step, and we will liberate our territories," - he said.
He added that russia is threatening countries in different ways for them not to transfer MLRS systems to us.
Russia took the stolen Ukrainian grain to Syria. Egypt refused to accept the ship with the looted goods in its ports.
