Kharkiv is mostly cleared of explosives, but the threat remains.

Interfax.com.ua reported this with reference to the head of the group of pyrotechnic and special diving operations of the Interregional Center for Humanitarian Demining and Rapid Response of the SES (State Emergency Service) of Ukraine, Ihor Ovcharuk.

"In Kharkiv, our SES unit has cleared 90% of the territory (in my opinion) from explosives. So the city is almost safe. But again, the threat remains as shelling continues on the city's outskirts. Even today, when we were working, there were shellings in Pivnichna Saltivka and Velyka Danylivka," - said Ovcharuk.

He says that in Kharkiv, there were many cases when they found unexploded ammunitions. At the very beginning, there were many cluster bomb elements from the SPMRLS "Tornado" and "Uragan."

Ovcharuk could not say how long it would take to clear the entire region. He noted that while retreating, the occupiers installed mines on roads, driveways, forest belt areas, etc. During the demining process of the recently liberated territories, his unit also faced cases of remote mining (in particular, in Kutuzivka and Ruska Lozova).
