President Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not yet see unity in the European future of Ukraine.
He said this during the Ukrainian breakfast discussion in Davos, in which he participated in the online format.
The President emphasized that Ukraine needs unity and confidence from the world. It is necessary for the West as well.
"Our strength is that people are united with the president, with the government, with the Armed Forces. We've all become one army, and there's power in that. And at one point it didn't matter what we had in our hands. At the turning point of the beginning of the war, the most powerful weapon was our unification. And from the unification of the West depends strength and durability. Today is a different stage. Russian army has an advantage as is the second army in the world. And we show a corresponding result. Therefore, unification of the West and confidence that the West is stronger than the russian army and bigger, and tougher, and their position is much fairer," he said.
The President stressed that the West should know that Ukraine is part of its world. Then they will unite not just with Ukraine, but around it - around an equal state.
"And yet we don't feel it completely. We didn't feel it when Ukraine wasn't accepted into NATO. We receive help, we are grateful to President Biden. We are on the European continent and we should be supported by a united Europe. Then we struggled with the issue of closing the sky, and yes, you know, step by step this issue was somehow forgotten. Somebody forgot. We have not forgotten. Missiles come from the sky daily. We have not forgotten anything here. So is there any confidence in the West? There is no confidence. Why don't they close the sky? They said there will be a war of NATO against russia. Okay - we said, please, let us have the aircraft, it will not be a war of NATO against russia. And so in every direction. There must be procedure clarity, strength must be unity," stressed the head of state.
Therefore, Ukraine needs unity in everything.
"Now there is a question of the European Union. Tell me, please, is there unity on the European continent regarding Ukraine, Ukraine's future? Is there this unity? I don't see it yet. Is it fair, though? No," the President stressed.
In addition, there is still no unified position on the sixth package of sanctions. During the protraction of this issue, russia will receive 200 bn dollars. The president explained that the West has no unified position not only with regard to our state but also with regard to Finland and Sweden's accession to NATO.
The sixth package of sanctions with an oil embargo is blocked by Hungary. It argues that it will experience great economic losses if it refuses to import russian oil.
