Ukraine is considering a scenario where it would be shut down completely if there was the slightest threat of losing control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP), which was occupied by the russian military.

This was announced by Adviser to Prime Minister Yuriy Boyko, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

“We are constantly monitoring the situation about ZNPP together with GINU, and there is a clear understanding that it is already in the bright red zone. But as long as the control commands are executed and the station maintains the mode, we do not stop. But the scenario according to which the station can be completely out of control and we will stop it is also being considered”, - he noted.

“In preparation for the sustainable heating season, a scenario with a complete shutdown of ZNPP is being considered,” Boyko added.

According to him, such a decision will lead to “the slightest movement towards the loss of control over the station.” At the same time, he noted that Ukraine's energy system is ready and able to cope with the consequences of such a decision.

We are reminding, that about 500 occupiers are on the ZNPP site. They placed tanks, Urals, armoured personnel carriers, explosives and weapons there - all of which are dangerous and cannot be near nuclear facilities.
