Every modern person is well aware of how the media works. It is very difficult to keep an eye on one topic for a long time. In order not to diminish the attention to Ukraine, to our struggle for freedom, everyone must continue to talk about what is happening, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced in his address.

"I congratulated the journalists on their professional holiday. During the war, the word "holiday" sounds very unnatural, but on this day every year, June 6, greetings are for the people on whom, of course, we all depend. From the information they spread. From the speed they work with," Zelensky said.

He added that this year the celebration is not something to focus on, but still we should note the contribution of journalists of Ukraine and all those on whom the work of the media depends: cameramen, engineers, editors, photographers, producers and all without whom it is impossible to broadcast and sites will not work.

"These are people who keep the information front and to whom I am grateful for this on behalf of all of us, all Ukrainians," the President stressed.

Volodymyr Zelensky awarded correspondents and media people who are working in the war now, as well as presented awards to the relatives of those whose lives were taken by the war.

32 media workers have died since February 24, not all of them are citizens of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky urged journalists not to confine themselves to the Ukrainian internal context, because the more they say about Ukraine in the world, the sooner we will be able to end the war and liberate our land.

In addition, Zelensky spoke with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson, informed him about the situation on the battlefield, our capabilities and key current dangers.

The President of Ukraine also spoke with the President of Poland Andrzej Duda about Ukraine's defense support. The issue of candidate status for Ukraine was also discussed, this is a key political issue right now.

"We are waiting for the decision of the European Union on our application in the coming weeks. I believe that this will be a decision not only for Ukraine, but also for the entire European project. About whether it has a future as a really strong union, "Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized.

He added that the creation of symbols, such as postage stamps, issued in Spain in support of Ukraine, is very important. This is what will help Ukraine in negotiations with representatives of the states on the specific important assistance that our state needs today.

The President of Ukraine said that Ukrainian heroes do not surrender their positions in Severodonetsk. Fierce street fights continue in the city. Lysychansk, Slovyansk, Bakhmut, Svyatogorsk, Avdiivka, Kurakhove and other areas of russian strikes are the hottest points of confrontation today.

Zelensky noted that he had signed a new decree on the awarding of our military - 121 soldiers were awarded, 32 of them posthumously. Since February 24, 17,864 combatants have been awarded state awards of Ukraine.

On the occasion of the Journalist's Day, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented state awards to Ukrainian media workers and members of the families of media representatives who died as a result of a full-scale russian invasion.

He also said that the involvement of russian citizens who support Ukraine and oppose the policies of the russian government will be useful in the fight against the aggressor country.
