Ukrainian lawyers are preparing lawsuits for damages of $ 20 billion as a result of the destruction of Azovstal and the theft of metallurgical products from Mariupol.

This was announced at a briefing by the chairman of the Federation of Metallurgists of Ukraine, Serhiy Bilenky, LB.ua correspondent reports.

"Now, it is difficult to calculate Ukraine's losses in metallurgy since the beginning of the war. But we are currently working on less than 20% of our capabilities. Speaking specifically about Mariupol, the plant provided 40% of all Ukrainian metallurgical products," he said.

Bilenky confirmed that the occupiers continue to export stolen Ukrainian metallurgical products from the city port.

"At the moment, it is complicated to prevent this. Russia is engaged in outright piracy. All the products made in Mariupol are exported through our port in the city. Maybe they plan to sell it somewhere. Or use it for domestic consumption. There is no other name for it. This is piracy and a violation of all norms of international law. I think this will also be adequately assessed in court," said the chairman of the Federation of Metallurgists.

According to him, lawsuits are already being prepared regarding the destruction of Azovstal and the illegal export of Ukrainian products.

"Currently, according to lawyers, such losses already amount to $ 20 billion," Bilenky added.

Earlier, the satellite spotted vessels by which occupiers take out metal and grain from the port of Mariupol.

It also became known that the Russians were taking out of Mariupol remaining vehicles, playgrounds and medical equipment.
