The Bulgarian bulk carrier Rozhen will be the first vessel to export Ukrainian grain from Chornomorsk to the Romanian port of Sulina via the grain corridor, BGNES has reported.

The Rozhen is due to bring 40,000 tonnes of maize to the UK. The vessel called at Chornomorsk back on 21 February and is still under blockade.

In April, it was only possible to change the bulk carrier's crew.

According to BMF Shipping director, Captain Alexander Kalchev, the Rozhen is ready to leave because it will head for Istanbul with a reduced crew and will be replenished in the Bosporus.

In order to export Ukrainian grain, the BMF management has permission to make the first part of the voyage with a reduced crew.

The bulk carrier is expected to depart from Chornomorsk in the next few days. At present the grain corridor is still being organised.

The first vessel with agricultural produce arrived at the Bulgarian port of Varna the other day from the Ukrainian port of Reni on the Danube.
