By the end of 2022, Ukraine should export 20bn dollars worth of grain. Currently, the balance of grain is estimated at 10bn dollars, Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Solskyy has said, LB.ua correspondent reports.
"After the agreements were signed, we have a balance of 10bn dollars worth of grain. It is true. This is a huge amount," he said.
He predicts that another 20bn dollars worth of grain will need to be exported by the end of this year. This money is needed for much of the country to continue to function.
"First and foremost is the agricultural industry. And not just farmers, but the whole rural area," the minister pointed out.
Solskyy warned that the only factor that could cause a possible food shortage within Ukraine could be a lack of money for the next sowing campaign.
"Therefore, the signed agreement should solve these problems," the minister said.
He described as positive the trend of a 10% rise in the cost of grain in recent days, which is linked to the exchange rate policy and the promised unblocking of ports.
