A burial place of about 20 military personnel with their hands tied behind their backs and large burial places of the civilian population were found in liberated from the russian occupiers Izyum, Kharkiv region, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Lubinets said on Telegram.

“We found about 500 civilian graves. And so far, one grave has been identified, where about twenty servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are buried en masse. The soldiers were found shot to death with their hands tied,” Lubinets informed.

The soldiers who died were likely prisoners of war. Law enforcement officials believe that they were first tortured and then executed. This military burial may not be the only one in the region.

Also, according to Dmytro Lubinets, there are very large burials of the civilian population, whole families were killed.

“Family: father, born in 1988, his wife, born in 1991, their daughter, born in 2016, and their parents. They lie next to each other. According to locals, they all died as a result of an air strike by a russian aircraft... This is yet another evidence that the russian federation is committing genocide on the territory of Ukraine," Lubinets stressed.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights' office announced today that it will send a team to Izyum to verify mass grave sites.
