A Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group attempted to infiltrate the rear of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the liberated Novovoznesenske village in the Vysokopillya community of Beryslav District, Kherson Region, the spokesman for the Operational Command South, Vladyslav Nazarov, has said.

According to him, no significant changes in the state, composition and position of the enemy have been noted. However, the occupiers tried to attack the Ukrainian military from the rear last night.

"Under the cover of night, an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group near liberated Novovoznesenske (Kherson Region - ed.) tried to penetrate into the rear of our units. The group was discovered and, after a small arms engagement, retreated with losses," Nazarov said.

According to the OC South, heavy fighting continues in the region, with the Ukrainian Armed Forces knocking the enemy out of all areas.

Earlier today, the first deputy head of the Kherson regional council, Yuriy Sobolevskyy, said that the Russian occupiers were trying to beef up the defence of Kherson.
