In two days since the signing of Ukraine's application for NATO membership by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, 10 NATO member states have supported Ukraine's application, an adviser to the presidential chief of staff, Mykhaylo Podolyak, has said.
"For the most part, these are countries that remember well the poisonous claws of the russian empire," Podolyak added.
He thanked the allied countries for "demonstrating leadership and responsibility".
The presidents of nine Central and Eastern European states, which are members of NATO, issued a joint statement to condemn attempts by the Russian Federation to illegally annex the territories of Ukraine and declared their support for Ukraine's accession to the alliance.
Washington expressed its support for the policy of "open doors" in NATO. However, the decision on Ukraine's possible accession must be taken by all member states of the bloc.
