As of Sunday, 2 October, 24 exchanges of prisoners have been carried out, 808 people have been returned from captivity, Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar has said on Facebook.
"As of today, the HQ has held 380 personal receptions of people who were looking for their missing relatives, and more than 3,000 telephone consultations - all this is active daily work. The headquarters has also processed more than 6,000 inquiries about the status of a person. These are requests from relatives who are looking for their missing family members," said Malyar.
She recalled that Ukraine fully complies with the Geneva Conventions on the treatment of prisoners of war. All this is carried out by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, which unites more than 10 state institutions and organizations. It operates on the basis of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry.
The Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories reported on the allocation of one-off financial assistance to Ukrainians who were released from Russian captivity. Ninety-six former prisoners received such assistance. All of them received 100,000 hryvnyas.
According to the commissioner for persons missing under special circumstances, Oleh Kotenko, more than 4,000 Ukrainians remain missing.
